Mastermodels is a family owned business with a team of 20 model makers, toolmakers, pattern makers, 3D designers and artists. We have been making expertly crafted models and prototypes for 50 years.
The company has it’s roots back in the 1960’s when we established our reputation making models for the now classic Stingray, Thunderbirds and Joe 90 television series. Here is a video of us working on those models in 1968. Models for pioneering films like 2001- A Space Odyssey, Star Wars, Superman and Aliens followed. Read more about our history.
In addition to our screen special effects work our models can be seen in museums around the world… spacecraft models in the Science Museum, London, aircraft models in The Smithsonian, Washington and interactive animated displays in The Science Museum, Taiwan to name just a few. Pictures of our work can be found on our gallery page.
Mastermodels today offer an unrivaled turn key service which includes making large scale models for exhibition and display, production runs of scale desk top models, product design and development, cnc machining, engineering and product prototyping including rapid prototyping. We can supply highly accurate SLA models within a few days of receiving CAD data. We also supply parts made in stronger materials such as nylon and glass filled nylon using the SLS process. If you need low volume rapid castings for a small production run, we can handle that too. Any parts made by these processes can be finished to a realistic production look and feel in our paint shop. We can add graphics and working features as required. Find out more about our facilities. There are in depth articles about our previous work on our case studies page.
